The prospect of failing an RSA course is a concern almost everybody has…
OK, to be totally open with you, even though I have competed four RSA courses (to find the best) I must admit I felt nervous just before I started the first and even the second one!
Crazy? No – just human.
Just like school, a test for many people can bring back stressful memories and feelings.
The good news is it can be easy and stress free:
- Simply do a good, well structured course with trainers to help you.
- Check out the practice test questions and answers below to put your mind at ease.
UPDATE 2018 – If you just want to do the best courses online easily – I completed this course and it is easy to pass and fun to do.
The best bit of this course is that you cannot fail. Basically if you get a question wrong too many times a trainer will help.

Fear of the unexpected and fear of failure at two of the most powerful emotions we humans have.
So, simply spend 5 min to read below:
I will explain what to expect from doing an RSA course.
Then I will share the hardest questions (and example answers) that show you how easy the course actually is.
This article applies to one of the courses I completed for QLD, WA, SA and NT, TAS and ACT.
Note: NSW has some additional/different questions.
What to expect
The Assessments
Courses are made up of sections with assessments at the end of each which contributes your final assessment score. There is also a final assessment which summarizes the whole course.
Most courses are designed to actively help you pass. Different courses use different methods to achieve this but it is in the interests of the training organization to ensure that it actually does happen.
In each course, when you get a question wrong you can review the material that deals with that question.
This method does two things:
1) It is a really good way to get the question right. 🙂
2) It is also a pretty cool way to learn because each section comprises a big component of your total score.
There is however a final assessment:
For the cheaper courses I did, during course I did I found that the final assessment was relatively easy once you had worked through the course.
For the best courses I did, there was no final assessment – sweet!
Note for NSW courses run by the OLGR of NSW: The online version was suspended in 2014 but in 2018 you can do it online. In the online version I did, if you got an assessment question wrong three times you actually get locked out of that particular section. In the email version you are in contact with a trainer to get assistance. Fortunately for QLD, WA, SA and NT, TAS and ACT the course just keep looping back until you get it right.
When contacting the trainer is required:
In the first two courses I completed I required the trainer to assist me. I used email in both cases as I expect most other people would do and both times I had my questions answered within a few hours. After this I was able to move on. Calling would obviously be a lot quicker during business hours if speed was required.
Sample RSA Question Types – with practice test answers 🙂
To aid in learning and keep it interesting the online training has many types of questions.
Option Selection
Selection of the correct answers is usually pretty easy after you have just read through the material. Its also helpful that you also get sent back to the correct information if you get it wrong.
Drag and Drop
I loved the Drag and Drop type questions they are actually usually pretty easy.
Listen and Learn and Answers
The easiest questions of the lot. Basically you just hit play and listen for the answers.
True and False
They seem to save important point for True and False answers. It is obviously pretty easy to select the correct answer if you get it wrong the first time!
Sentence Selection – NSW Only (online prior 2014)
These can be a little tricky, but you can review course material prior to answering.
Review and Learn
Hard to get these wrong, but still a great way to learn
Relax and enjoy doing your RSA!
Do not worry if these questions seem difficult.
You will pass your RSA course, it really is just a question of how long it will take you and how much stress it will cause you. I really hope you found this page useful in showing you what you can expect.
I found that I completed the course faster and enjoy the process of learning much more the moment I decided to RELAX and just LEARN.
