Finally! RSA training that can be done easily, enjoyably and you learn a lot too…
Plus How the Training Works and 5 (not to be missed) Tips to Pass Easier!
My mission is to help others get their certificate by uncovering the best RSA courses for this website and so far I have completed four and looked into many others.
Below you will find (click to jump to info below);
It Gets Better
You can now get it online – click here for a $5 discount through these guys (who I recommend).
You can also do other courses by correspondence and in person, which I will discuss briefly below in case you don’t have access to a computer easily.
Why Quality Online Training?
Most people just want to find the cheapest RSA course and get it done ASAP.
I get it.
Fortunately the NSW OLGR does a pretty great job of keeping standards high in general.
The problem is that training from different registered training organisations (RTOs) in Australia can vary quite significantly as they use different training platforms and have different standards of support (which you will most likely need when you get a question wrong too many times).
Apart from support, the actual training platform they use to deliver the course matters a whole lot.
This means choosing any training, let alone the cheapest one can be a bad idea resulting in frustration and spending longer completing the course.
To help with this, I started this website to find the best courses for each state including NSW. As it turns out though the best course I did is also just $10 more than the absolute cheapest I could find and $35 lower than many courses (just click the “get it online …” links in this page to get an additional $5 discount – making it one of the cheapest in NSW)!
Your welcome!
How it works:
- Sign up and do get it online for NSW. (Check out the video at the start – it gives you $5 off!).
- Get a Unique Student Identifier (USI) or use the one you may have. You can start and complete the course while your new USI or validation of an existing one. However you will need a USI to get the certificate.
Note: You may have one if you did any nationally recognised training which could include training at work, completed a first aid course, have a white card, or studied at a TAFE or training organisation in Australia – Click here to retrieve it.
- Get your ID card. After completing the course (1) and adding you USI (2) you will be emailed an interim certificate which means you can start work immediately. HOORAY! However, the interim certificate lasts 90 days. In that time (we suggest sooner rather than later) you need to apply for a photo competency card which takes 4 weeks to process once you apply.Note: To apply take 100 points of ID (including photo ID) and your Interim RSA Certificate and to your nearest Service NSW service centre. You will not need to pay anything more as the $85 it costs comes out of the RSA course cost.
Thats it – enjoy working in a great industry and a great State!

5 Top Tips
Can you get the answers online?
You might be able to find the answers online or cheat some other way but the advantage of doing so is pointless because at the end of the day you have to complete the assessment and it is just as easy to learn the material and pass as it is to copy the answers over.
How can I pass easily?
All RSA courses are designed to help you pass while you learn important stuff (I know this sounds corny) which actually helps you in your job. They simply want everyone to have good training and good online training is a great way to do it. However I found that if I tried to rush or just didn’t focus it took me longer and I got frustrated. To help I provided 10 Tips to do your course much easier here.
What about doing the course in person?
Perhaps you do not have access to a computer (like a library) or simply don’t want to do it online. Check out Penrith, Parramatta or the NSW Department of Industry for courses nearest you.
What about correspondence?
Perhaps you have an older computer that can’t handle online training. Some training organisations still may offer correspondence because it was offered before online training became mainstream. You will most likely still need a computer with Word and PDF viewer.
Generally this takes is a few forms then you will be sent all of the training material in PDF format to download, as well as the assessment which is to be completed in a Word doc.
You can complete the assessment as you read through the training material, once it’s complete you email the Word doc back.
From here a qualified trainer will grade your assessment, and if you answer all questions correctly, you will receive your certification via email within 24 hours.
Can I use my RSA from other States?
No, however there are bridging courses available although since $85 of the cost goes towards the card you get, costs are pretty similar to doing the whole course.
Can I use my NSW RSA to work in other States?
Yes, if you complete an RSA (after July 2018) in NSW you will also be issued with a National RSA Statement of Attainment (from the trainer I recommend) which means you can work anywhere except VIC. Click here for more information about renewals, refreshers and working in other States.
