The best bit
A common question we get is – Do you have a practice test?
In addition to highlighting the best RSA we could find that is approved by Department of WA Racing, Gambling and Liquor, I am going to make it easy for you with my top tips below – which will make it easier for you to pass.
Lets get stuck in (the best 3 min of reading you will do today)
Why Good Quality Training is Important?
When I looked for training for my RSA that covered WA, I struggled to work out which one to do – there are LOADS.
It would be easy to choose a cheap one, but I quickly found that was not necessarily the best way to choose. I can hear someone annoying saying, “you get what you pay for”.
You probably noticed, prices range pretty dramatically from $17 to $85. But just like anything online – results may vary.
The biggest differences?
The support they provide and different systems they use to deliver the training.
I found that training systems that use interactive videos and multimedia helps a lot so you can pass relatively easily and learn some (surprisingly 😉 ) good stuff on the way.
But I found the biggest one was support!
Yes choosing any training, let alone the cheapest is potentially a bad idea resulting in wasting time completing the course and not the best learning outcomes.
To help with this, I started this website to find the best courses.
This course is my recommendation for WA and at $44 (including the $5 off you get when you check out their interactive video) it is really great value.
Your welcome!
How it works:
- Sign up and do it online for WA. (Don’t forget to check out the interactive video at the start – it gives you $5 off!).
- Get a Unique Student Identifier (USI) or use the one you may have. You can start the course while your new USI is arranged or you validate an existing one. You will need a USI to complete the final stages of the course.Note: You may have a USI if did training like a white card, first aid course or studied at a TAFE or training organisation in Australia – Click here to retrieve it.
- Get your certificate in PDF. After completing the course you will be able to click on the last section of the course you will be able to generate your PDF certificate for printing, emailing or saving. To help with getting a job at the very least it is wise to indicate you have it on your resume.
Thats it – enjoy working in hospitality in WA!

6 Top Tips
Can you get the answers online?
Even if you have all the answers in front of you, it would probably be harder because each course contains interactive elements and each is different to others. It would also be a lot less fun to find the answers and apply them to the questions instead of just running through the material (like watching videos) and answering questions.
Is it possible to fail?
There is no pass or fail you just have to successfully complete the course with as much help as you need. RSA courses are designed to help you pass while you learn (mostly) important information.
If you do get 3 questions wrong you will get locked out and need to contact a trainer via email or phone which will be quicker during business hours.
That said, I found that if I tried to rush or just didn’t focus it took me longer and I got frustrated. Here are 10 Tips to do your course much easier and not get locked out.
What if you get locked out?
It is easy to get locked out I found – twice actually (and on different courses). Don’t worry, it happens all the time. Just be patient if you are doing the course outside of business hours because to keep costs of courses reasonable most don’t have trainers available 24/7.
How long do you have to complete it?
You can come and go as much as you like for 4 weeks until you complete the course.
How long does the course take?
Most courses say 6-8 hours. That is probably about right for your first one. To complete it fast as possible have a quick read through my 10 tips. Ironically I found that the more impatient I was, the longer it took me.
Can I use my RSA from other States?
The WA is a Nationally Accredited RSA which means if you have an RSA from some States it may well be suitable. Click here for more information about renewals, refreshers and working in other States.
