How it works
First it is important to know that the RSA you are doing is approved by the South Australian Office of Liquor and Gambling.
Lets dive in (best 2 min reading you will do today)
Why Quality Training is so Important?
When I was looking to do my RSA training I found loads of training companies.
Some people simply choose the cheapest or spend an hour or two trying to figure out which one is best.
Cheap courses or fancy websites are not a good way to figure out which one to do.
The problem I found is that the quality of the training varies enormously especially when it comes to human support (which you will likely need – more about that later) and the actual training platform used and how the material is presented.
Quality training is easier to pass, more fun and you learn more.
And it is not expensive (or super cheap)
Prices for courses typically range from $17 to $85 – but I found that the cheapest ones and the most expensive ones are not the best ones.
The difference
I hinted before that human support is pretty important – especially with RSA training because it is pretty common to “get locked out”. This is actually built into the training to help you learn, which it does but the problem is how quickly and easily can you get a hold of a trainer so you can continue? This I found to one of the biggest differences in training organisations.
The other big difference?
The systems used to deliver the training.
With every course there is a fair amount of multi-choice and a bit of reading. That is pretty straight forward for most training platforms, but the best training I found to included interactive videos and multimedia that helps to make the course fun and effective!
This course is my recommendation for SA and at $44 (including the $5 off you get when you check out their interactive video) it is really great value.
Your welcome!
How it works:
- Sign up and do it online for SA. (There is specific information relevant to South Australia liquor laws) (Check out the interactive video at the start – it gives you $5 off!).
- Use or get a Unique Student Identifier (USI). You can start the course while your USI is arranged or simply validate an existing one. You will need a USI to complete the final stages of the course.
Note: You may have a USI if studied at Tafe or completed training life first aid or a white card – Click here to retrieve it. - Get your certificate. After finishing the course you will be able to click on the last section to generate your PDF certificate for printing, emailing or saving.
Thats it – enjoy working in hospitality!

5 Top Tips
Is it possible to fail?
No. It is only possible to not complete the course. Most questions are multi choice and you get three goes at getting them right. The idea is to teach you what is important. To help with this I recommend just to take your time and not rush. This is also one of my top 10 tips to help you.
What if you get locked out?
Step 1. Do not stress. I found you can get locked out pretty easily (especially if you think you can do it easy and try to rush). I got locked out twice, the second time on a different course after I already had my RSA certificate!
Step 2. Ask a trainer. The key is to just be patient to get a response especially if you are doing it on a weekend or a 2am. Ironically if you are patient in the first place you might not get locked out at all.
How long does it take?
About 6-8 hours. Truth is, if you get locked out it this is what makes more like 8 hours rather than 6.
How long do you have to complete it?
4 weeks until you complete the course. You can do it all in one day or break it up as you please.
How do you get assessed?
There are 10 sections with a quiz at the end of each. The cool part is if you get something wrong you will be taken to material that can help you. The first part of the course is assessing you knowledge, with the second part more about skill like refusing service.
